Product Details

Antoine and Claude Changarnier inherited this century-old domain in 2004 and they engaged Fabrice Groussin as director. Ambition was high and immediately they started the qualitative rebuilding of cellar and vineyards. The domain owns just under 5ha of vineyards mainly in Monthelie with some plots in Auxey-Duresses, Meursault and Pommard. The estate is certified organic, all wines mature for 12 months in wooden barrels, 15-20% of which are new, and several more months in cuve. Before bottling, the wines are not clarified and barely filtered. The wines have already recently received very nice reviews in Bourgogne Aujourd'hui and this year also top scores in Wine Enthousiast.

We found the wines very expressive, always beautifully defined and with that shimmering energy we are always looking for.

Champs Fulliot is arguably Monthelie's best premier cru and is an extension of Volnay Clos des Chênes. Only a thin layer of red clay on the limestone rock and the wine is raised 20% in an amphora of Tuscan clay. This gives a very nuanced, energetic, finesse-rich wine that can safely be compared to wines from Volnay.

Bourgogne Aujourd'hui: "Élevé à 20% en jarre, ce premier cru révèle une robe intense, des arômes précis de fruits rouges et noirs. Le vin est encore fermé, mais dense, frais, équilibré, prometteur."

Inside Burgundy: "This is an impressive domaine which is continuing to invest so as to improve further. They are adding further vineyards in Monthelie and Pommard, with additional winery and cellar space. They have been certified organic since 2019 with some biodynamic practices in place."
"A fine clear ruby purple of medium depth. Clearly more elegance than Meix Bataille. The floral side of red berry fruit. 20% in a clay jar, plus 350 litre wood. Real nobility here, and the elevage seems to give a freshness on the palate along with the perfectly judged ripeness of the fruit and harmonious tannins." 92/100 *****
