Dark cherry, hard candy, plum, spice, sweet lavender, graphite and leather all infuse the 2016 with notable character and captivating inner perfume. The Gattera is a blend of two parcels, both southwest facing. It is 2016 is a positively stunning wine.” 96/100

This wine represents a selection of the best fruit from the site at the upper parts of the vineyard. The wine's concentration or overall richness is nudged up a notch. It's not easy choosing a favorite between Monfalletto and Gattera in this beautifully balanced vintage; however, this wine appeals to those who appreciate more dark blackberry power and fruit weight in their Barolo. The tannins are silky and smooth, showcasing the best of La Morra fruit. I'd pair this with braised meat or any dish involving precious truffles from Alba.." 96/100
