Product Details

Cesare Bussolo is undoubtedly one of the most interesting wine producers you will currently find in Piedmont. He was born and raised in the heart of La Morra, one of the villages where Barolo comes from. From childhood, Cesare was therefore immersed in winemaking. He graduated from the Alba Wine School. Since 2007, he has worked for the estate of his bosom friend Roberto Voerzio. Bussolo is involved in both the vineyards and the entire production process, becoming a loyal and indispensable partner.
In 2009, Bussolo went solo. He bought a vineyard no less than 90 years old in Santa Lucia, an area particularly well adapted to the Barbera culture of La Morra, which he considers the best terroir in the world. In 2010, he made work of replanting the vineyard. He opted for a high planting density of around 8,000 plants per hectare, reducing the yield per plant to 1 kg.

The vineyard is grown organically, without the use of pesticides and herbicides, allowing the terroir to reach its full potential. The grapes are picked by hand when they are just perfectly ripe. The wine cellar also opts for the natural process with native yeast, no alteration and malolactic fermentation in steel tanks. After maturing in oak barrels, the wine is bottled without ltering. Cesare's wines are produced in Roberto Voerzio's wine cellar.
According to Cesare, Roberto Voerzio is still his mentor and teacher. The combined knowledge and experience of the two gentlemen is especially good news for all of us: it makes it possible to achieve the absolute quality of the wines and vineyards.
